We went to the park as a family and CorrieAnn quickly saw the bond between our youngest and oldest (a 7 1/2 year age difference). She went above and beyond her "prize" to us and captured the most AMAZING photos of the boys individually as well as together.

We have used the same studio for the past 9 years and while they offer great indoor shoots, this was a unique opportunity that has provided our family with photos that captured the bond between our boys in a natural, unposed environment. The only complaint I have is that now I have the daunting task of choosing which photos to enlarge and hang on my walls. Every shot I have been shown is perfect - CorrieAnn captured my boys as I see them after only knowing them for a few moments. The sun hadn't been able to burn through the clouds yet and it was pretty gloomy. However, by about 10:30A the sun won it's battle. I caught just a few pictures as the rays from the sun were doing their best to melt all the frost off the trees. Here is a passage from a book called "Pinocchio Parenting" by Chuck Borsellino:

"Dare to be driven by your dreams. Some dreams will be shared; some will be secret. Set your dreams high enough so that they can't be realized unless God shows up. Give him room. Dare the impossible. Dream big. You may be just one dream away from a destiny created by the Divine..."

...and then there was this:

"Without purpose, life has no meaning. Without meaning, life has no significance. Without significance, life has no satisfaction. Chase happiness and you'll find emptiness. Chase purpose and you'll find happiness -- and so much more."

I am at a point in my life where I feel the need to be clear in my intention. My goal with photography is to capture God's beauty and present it to the rest of the world, yet I've never invited Him to a photo session. I know, I know. Sounds like a no-brainer, right? Well, I just figured this out yesterday.

Moments

Today I went out for a "girl's day out", and even though our destination was seemingly insignificant, it wasn't about geography. It was about "moments." You know the kind. The ones that make you smile, laugh out loud, talk about things otherwise out of bounds. The kind of moments that make relationships deeper. When I am in this sort of zone, I see little moments happening all over the place.

At one point we were looking around for a place to eat and I saw these three, young twenty-somethings sitting down with their slices of pizza, holding hands, heads bowed, thanking God for their food.

I watched a Candian Goose lurch out of the water towards a small boy sitting in a plastic car/wagon with his tiny dog causing the dog to jump out of it's skin...and the wagon.

I admired a dog owner as she sat on the rocks by the river's edge, her arm draped over her dog...the ultimate display of companionship and peace.

Jack Frost Was Here

This morning was one of those days which I found to be bitter-sweet. The landscape, which was beautifully touched by the previous night's weather, was so utterly stunning that I had a certain amount of difficulty keeping my focus on the traffic around me as I drove into work; which brings me to the bitter portion of my reality. The fact that I could not take the time to photography this amazing event saddened me.

Picture this if you will:

The early morning sun is on the horizon illuminating the brilliant blue skies and the face of the surrounding westerly mountains. The trees are all frozen motionless in their white cocoons of frost; every branch, needle and leaf encased in glimmering ice crystals. Even the blades of dried-up, post-summer grass play a role in transforming our panoramic views into something magical…something heavenly. Then, as I am thinking to myself that I am seldom offered the occasion to witness such creations by Him, it gets even better! At the base of the mountain floats an ever-changing band of fog stretching from south to north.
